Plaid AM attacks Labour over lunch club closures

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's National Assembly Member for Wales has criticized the Labour led council for once again turning its back on an election promise. Rhodri Glyn Thomas has spoken out over yet further examples of Labour promises that have been quickly forgotten.

Mr Thomas said:

"When in opposition the Labour party promised that lunch clubs were a priority for them, yet we are now presented with the closure of many of these clubs. The people of this county are being cheated by labour promises that they have no intention of keeping. Kevin Madge, whose portfolio these closures fall into, should be ashamed at depriving the community of much needed facilities. To announce these proposed cuts without any discussion or consultation is unacceptable"

Mr Thomas added:

"There is a distinct level of hypocrisy regarding the labour council in Carmarthenshire. First they oppose car parking charges only to raise them by 150%, now they are closing lunch clubs which were priorities according to their election manifesto. When you add the fact that nationally Labour are turning their backs on election promises such as free home care for the disabled, it is evident that the people of Wales can no longer trust Labour at a national or local level."
